Corrupted Help Viewer preferences files or cache- most likely the problem

Quit Help Viewer if it is open.

Open your Home > Library > Preferences folder.

Trash the following three files:

com.apple.help.plist

com.apple.helpui.plist

com.apple.helpviewer.plist

Open your Home > Library > Caches folder. Trash the com.apple.helpui folder. Empty the Trash.

When you next launch Help Viewer, you may notice that the Library menu (Tiger, Panther) or the Help Center (Jaguar) lists Help for only a few applications. This is not a problem. When you next launch applications that provide Help via Help Viewer, their Help will again be listed in the Library menu or Help Center.

Hope that Helps,

- Gear 3 Macintosh Technical Services
