Unmanaged servers cost less because you or your company is completely responsible for monitoring the performance and services running on the server as well as general software maintenance. You can run any services or software you like since you are ultimately responsible for the health of server. Reboots can be handled by Gear 3 during normal business hours 9-5 Eastern time, Off hour reboots may incur an Emergency reboot fee of $199 for each incident.
